Terms of Service

1. Agreement to these terms

By creating an account or using the HomeTag service ("Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and HomeTag. We may update these Terms from time to time — we will notify you of material changes by email or through the Service. Continued use after notice constitutes acceptance.

2. The Service

HomeTag provides a digital home management system that allows you to register physical QR sticker labels to appliances and other home items, and store associated documentation, warranty information, and service records in a cloud-based account.

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time. We will give reasonable notice of material changes where possible.

3. Eligibility and accounts

  • You must be at least 18 years old to use the Service.
  • You must provide accurate information when creating your account.
  • You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials.
  • You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately at hello@hometag.app if you suspect unauthorised access.
  • You may not create more than one free account per person.

4. Free plan and paid subscriptions

HomeTag offers a free tier and a paid "Home Pro" subscription.

  • Free plan: limited to 5 items. No credit card required.
  • Home Pro: billed monthly. Provides unlimited items, email reminders, and service schedule alerts.
  • Subscription fees are charged in advance on a monthly basis via Stripe.
  • You may cancel your subscription at any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — you retain access until then.
  • We do not offer refunds for partial billing periods unless required by law.
  • We reserve the right to change subscription pricing. We will give at least 30 days' notice before any price change affects your account.

5. Your content

You retain ownership of all data, documents, and files you upload to the Service ("Your Content"). By uploading content, you grant us a limited licence to store, process, and display it solely for the purpose of providing the Service to you.

You are solely responsible for Your Content. You must not upload:

  • Content that is unlawful, defamatory, or infringes third-party rights.
  • Malware, viruses, or any malicious code.
  • Personally identifiable information of third parties without their consent.

We reserve the right to remove content that violates these Terms.

6. QR stickers and physical products

QR sticker labels are physical products. Once dispatched, we cannot accept returns unless the stickers are faulty. If you receive damaged or non-functional stickers, contact us within 14 days of receipt.

QR codes are permanently assigned to your account when claimed. If you lose a sticker, contact us — we can reassign the code at our discretion.

7. Public item views

Certain item information may be visible to anyone who scans a claimed QR sticker. You are responsible for deciding what information to store and which items to make publicly visible. Do not store sensitive personal or financial information in item fields that may be publicly viewable.

8. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to other users' accounts or data.
  • Reverse-engineer, scrape, or copy any part of the Service.
  • Use the Service in a way that could damage, disable, or impair it.
  • Misuse QR codes by claiming codes you have not physically received.

9. Disclaimer of warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that data will never be lost. You are responsible for maintaining your own backups of important documents.

Warranty and service reminder emails are a best-effort feature and should not be relied upon as your sole reminder system.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, HomeTag shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of (or inability to use) the Service, including but not limited to loss of data, missed warranty claims, or financial loss.

Our total aggregate liability to you shall not exceed the amount you have paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or £50, whichever is greater.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by UK law.

11. Termination

You may close your account at any time from your account settings. We may suspend or terminate your account if you breach these Terms, with or without notice depending on the severity of the breach.

On termination, your data will be deleted in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
